It is National Novel Writing Month and I am challenging myself again this year (5th time) to write 50,000 words in November. I have accomplished this 3 of the last 4 times I tried it and learned a lot each time.
This is the first year I am using Discord to interact with the writing group and I must admit it is a challenge. Maybe it is me but Discord (and its Bulletin Board-like structure) has never been intuitive to me. NaNoWriMo focuses a lot on group writing to encourage each other to not give up on this difficult challenge to share experiences and help each other learn new tips, tricks, and methods.
To be honest, I have never thrived in group writing ventures and I find my writing best accomplished when my mind is immersed in the story and lives of the characters I am writing about. However, after four years of doing the NaNoWriMo challenge I have come to embrace the enthusiasm and comradery that this world wide event creates. So I will try anything (Discord) at least during the event and get out of it what I may.
This being November 4th, it means it’s the 4th day of NaNo and I have written each day. I am a little behind in my word count, but it is usual for me to run behind during the week and make up my count on the weekends.
Is anyone else out there participating in NaNoWriMo this year? If so, congratulations, and good luck to you. Let me know how you are doing. Maybe we will meet virtually at one of the GWIC rail stops!
